Hi guys!
Jessie and I are super excited because we are finally MOVING (roommates again yay)! We feel so lucky and blessed to start this new chapter in our lives! We are working in the city, so living in an apartment closer to both of our work places was super important to us! With that being said, as you all know, Jessie works in interior architecture( amazing!).
I’m going to let her take over… but wanted to introduce this fun new part of Rubylemongirls…. were going to talk EVERYTHING design!! Mood boards, furniture, colors, lightening, space planning, and more!!
Cant wait to hear your feedback on all the new and fun content! We are pumped to bring you guys along with us as we navigate our new jobs, being adults, and living in the city!
So this weekend we decided to take a big step forward, and purchase a couple of new additions for our first place. We are so excited, and cant wait to show you how everything comes together! Moving into our new apartment, we honestly had no furniture, we wanted to start fresh and buy pieces that we really loved. Our awesome parents let us borrow two wooden TV tables that came with matching chairs…and currently that is about all we have, but we don’t mind- its cozy and we know with some patience and saving up everything will come together.
We started with creating a Pinterest board( https://pin.it/k6ggu7hdvewzsp) to organize our ideas, decide on the color palate, choose our favorite furniture styles, and to pick accessories and details we wanted to include in the design. We also spent time scouring the internet trying to find design inspiration from our favorite stores which include: Anthropologie, Urban outfitters, Ikea, Restoration Hardware, Arhaus, The Container Store, and even Amazon! Jessie also gets inspiration from her favorite designers such as- Kelly Wearstler, Jonathan Adler, Peter Marino, Victoria Hagan, Martyn Lawrence Bullard, and even from some of the greats such as- Frank Lloyd Wright, Antonio Gaudi, Ludwig Mies Van Der Rohe, Zaha Hadid, and Eileen Grey. We also drew inspiration from Jessie’s favorite design magazines( Interior Design Magazine, Architectural Digest, and Luxe- Interior Design) which are definitely worth taking a look at, these publications always have the top trends regarding furniture, fabrics, and lighting.
Jessie loves everything mid- century modern, but wanted to add a chic twist to the design. She loves furniture pieces that also can function as art in the space, and enjoys more of an eclectic style. She believes this makes your space feel special and unique to who you are.
We are going to share the space with you all as it begins to come together, we made several purchases this weekend, but wanted to share our special inspiration piece. Basically this item is our statement piece, and really is going to set the tone for the entire apartment design. Introducing the Milly Velvet Sofa, in a beautiful Mauve crushed velvet fabric with dark pine wood legs. The sofa has a tufted low profile seat back, removable tapered pine wood legs, and three plushy seat cushions. The sofa design includes curved lines and intricate stitching, it is a custom piece made to order by Urban Outfitters, and is made to order. Jessie saved up for this beauty and we can wait to have it in our place!
